Im trying to make a template in word 97 that will enable the user to add text to the .dot in the relevant places. I need to know how you lock down words and graphics etc so that when the user is entering the text the template text does not move? i know you can use the insert key but is there another way?

Have you tried using the Forms toolbar? I have used it in Office 2000, but it should be the same in '97. This allows you to 'lock' the form so that only the spaces you specify can be typed in.

hope this helps!
