I have a Canon IXUS IV Digital Camera, i have photo's on it, all i need is to get the photo's onto my HD. Easy I hear you say, just use the USB cable that it is shipped with. I have tried this with both Win98SE and Win2k, and neither OS seems to be able to find the digital camera on the other end of the usb cable :-( .

Any Ideas?

I know you've probably already checked this, but are you sure the camera itself is set to "connect" mode? Just turning it on doesn't always get it picked up by the OS.

Did any software come with the camera. Try installing the drivers/apps that came with it first...

Hi
I don’t know the camera, so my suggestions are general.
1- If your camera uses TWAIN drivers then point your software to it rather than a scanner.
2- Make sure “Scanners and Cameras” in control Panel has your camera as installed.
3- Are the USB ports enabled?
4- Normally if the ports are enabled then when you connect USB devices to the pc, the OS should recognise the device. If yours do not do that then the USB cable or the camera are suspects.
5- Good luck
