I am trying to create a report based on a stored procedure. In the stored procedure, I create a temp table and then at the end of the proc, I select from the temp table. Why will it not show me the fields when I am trying to create the report? How can I create a report based on this scenario?

on the data tab click the refresh fields button on the toolbar and it will run the stored procedure and then show you the fields returned.

Ok - that helped me some - but when I am in the "layout" tab and am right clicking on the detail fields to get to expressions and then fields to select which fields I want to put in the report -- there are NONE and it states "Report item not linked to dataset"

drag and drop one of fields into a textbox on your report, that link the dataset.
