I was told there is a new terminal emulator on the ASA 1.10 CD. I was wondering if anyone has looked at it yet. What language does it use for scripting support, and does it support 4410 emulation?

The reason I ask is that I'm looking for a program that allows VBA scripting and 4410 emulation. I'm currently using Reflection for Unix and it works pretty good after remapping the default keys for VT-220, however I'd like to use 4410. Thanks for all replies

The ATE looks like the old Terranova package, infact I would not be suprised if it was! Scripting is VERY basic compare to VB coding. What type of scripts did you have in mind?

Thanks

Chris

Hi,

I can tell you the ATE definetly does support 4410, infact it supports:

ADDS 1010
AT&T 4410
AT&T 605
AT&T 513
HP2621
Tektronic 4010
Televideo 955
VT52
VT100
VT220

I would disagree with Clausen in as much as it looks like scripting support does look pretty complex, at least to me. I don't know if it is VBA scripting but if it helps i can send you a couple of sample ATE scripts.

Hope this helps,

Chris

You've both been helpful, thanks.

Chris (Clausen),
I'm currently using reflection to export a list of vectors to Excel. Then for each vector in an Excel range, it displays the vector and copies the three screens to Excel. After getting the list and contents for each into Excel, it puts it into Word. From Word it makes bookmarks (hyperlinks) out of the list, and when clicked, it goes to the steps for that vector. After making the bookmarks, the document is saved as html format so anybody can open it whether or not they have Office installed.

My next endevor will be to get my timetables exported. I will want it to be similar, in that it will have a list of timetables that are hyperlinks that take me to the list of tasks running in that timetable.

Another process I was doing with Reflection was having it check for a specific error every two minutes for two specific phone extensions. Once the error was found, it E-mailed my work address and my cell phone. I then had to hit a button on a phone to stop a trace started by Avaya within five minutes of the original error.

Chris (Armo2),
If you know of a way to use the script to control other programs other than just opening them in a new shell process, I'd be interested in the code. As you can see what I currently do with the Reflection code, I need to manipulate other programs easily. I know I could probly make the new Terminal package export to text and then have excel or another program open these and manipulate them, but I'd rather have a single script do everything. Again, I haven't seen this scripting language, so if it can control Excel and Word, I'd be interested in seeing some example script that show those commands.

All,
I really like Reflection at the moment and will probly stick with it until a Teminal emulater comes out that supports VB script and has the VB editor integrated, and supports 4410. There are some things that I can't do with reflection while connected with VT-220 such as Shift+tab to delete the last word when typing a command, or having the command for each function key displayed on the screen. It's a pain to re-map the keyboard for keys to work in Reflection the way I want them to, but luckily it only has to be a one time process, as the keyboard settings can be exported and then imported into a new session. If anyone would like the Reflection script for exporting vectors, let me know. I would also give keyboard map settings to get you started.

I can see how some might think I really don't have a problem, I just want everything to be perfect for me. Which means: Integrated VB editor; good documentation for controlling that program; 4410 support. If anyone knows of such a program, please let me know.

We have just started using a program called Call Flow Extract. It prints out all of our vectors, hunt groups, VDN's and puts them into an HTML format.

It's shareware so you should give it a shot and see if it works for you. The site is

I to am having some problems some problems with emulation.

Currently when accessing a Definity (mostly older ones) I tell the switch to use 513 emulation and I tell Reflections to use VT102 and then I map the 'F' keys.

The one 'F' key I can't seem to find the Escape code for the F6. The is needed when you do a "cha vec ###" and want to do an edit.

Any other help would be appreciated.

Can't use ASA cause multiple PC's with different modem types and COM ports dosen't play well with the Persist.dat file when shared.
