HI I Provision T-1 service for a Telco and Im working with a vendor who has a Telrad phone system. We changed his protocol from DMS100 (Norel) to NI2 because that is the only protocol we offer that supports incoming caller ID. I have verified the option is present and the Protocol is correct. He said he has also checked his side and his config is correct. I wasnt sure if it is an option that has to be "turned on" on the PBX side. He still is not getting incoming name but does recieve number. any info would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks, Michelle

Can't say about this PBX, but there are many that support "Calling Party Number" in the SETUP message and do not support caller ID in any other way. There is no SETUP Info Element for caller party name.

If this is the problem then they probably was able to get the number using DMS just as they do with NI-2.

Also note that many PBXes only support a small subset of NI-2 features, so again I would not be at all surprised if it just does not support caller name (if the vendor claims it supports caller ID I would assume that means number only unless specified otherwise specifically)

Best of luck.

WOW I read it. Great advice!! Never heard of it but i have experienced that issue. Dont be a stranger!

OK, I'll see you around. I have found Tek-tips to be quite a useful place.

Regarding the serivce messages, seems to me a LEC needs to report this to Nortel. Either it should ignore the lack of response to the service messages, or it should immediatley fail so that it is obviously a compatibility issue. This weird disapearing channels behavoir is most uncool.

BTW I found out that the DMS-250 does not allow them to be disabled, but then again I have not seem this particulat problem wih that switch either.

Cheers
