Hi,

I've configured a tty port for modem dial-in access to mirror that which I have on another system which is allowing telnet dial-in.

The modem receives the call and after hand-shaking disconnects. My question is .. is there somewhere on AIX where I might have telnet disabled or any other setting I might check.

Thanks

Mon

Hi,

Does the modem disconnect before you login or after ?
From the story it sounds like a problem with a modem/phone line rather then an AIX issue.
I would check those first thing. "Long live king Moshiach !"

the line seems to be fine. When dialing from ordinary phone you get the signal noises. The same is true when we connect via modem. We briefly get a connected and then befoer any login information it disconnects ??

hi,

what speed is your ports settings ?
try lowering the speed ( have a look in /etc/uucp/Devices file)

Can you connect to the modem on this server without a problem, i.e. if you have the port in shared mode you should be-able to cu to the port otherwise disable the port
and cu to it .

Hi
How are you doing this ?

#cu -ml tty0 (and have you enabled this tty in Devices file with appropriate speed, I recommend 19200?)
type
ATS0=1

then try dial in from a modem, even if it is not connecting you need to put some more AT commands like X1 (or may be x0)and try...let me know what happens
