Hi all,

We have AIX machines here querying DNS servers. Found out that AIX machines verify client's IPs and it takes long before telnet prompt comes up.

Is this an issue? How can this be resolved?

Also you can check the speed of your network card on the AIX machines. I had the same issue in which I had it set up to Auto Ditect and it was giving me the same problem.

The establishing of the connection is probably being delayed by the DNS server(s). Are your DNS servers internal on the same LAN (not necessarily same segment or VLAN), internal but connected via WAN, or external DNS servers (usually hosted by your ISP)? Config 2 or 3 could be delaying the DNS answer back. Also, are you sure all of connecting machines are in the primary and secondary DNS databases? From what I have also experienced AIX starts delaying connection handshaking when DNS requests start timing out on the primary DNS server. It does not failover to the secondary very smoothly or promote the seconday to primary if it starts getting responses back faster from the secondary.
