Hi
I have got RS6000 machine . When i try to telnet to this box from my NT Workstation it takes long time at least 3-4 min .
I have set the card speed to 100MBps/Fullduplex
Nslookup on AIX works fine and it gets the info quickly

I am able to ping from my workstation to this too.

Any idea why this ....??

Thanks in advance

regards
Naveen

Did you try telneting using IP or hostname?
If it works ok with IP - then there is a possible name resolution problem. "Long live king Moshiach !"

Hi Levw
Yes i tried to telnet with IP address but its the same.
But if i login to AIX and try telnet to other machine it is very fast

Hope this helps

Regards
Naveen

Try to check your name resolution configuration on AIX.
Look at your [tt]/etc/resolv.conf[/tt] file. Do your file look like
[tt]
hosts = bind4, local
[/tt]
?
I hope it works...
Unix was made by and for smart people.

but in aix order is not specified in resolv.conf, but in
/etc/netsvc.conf
hosts=local
or
hosts=local,bind

at least sendmail and squid ( and bind and nslookup ) will continue to use server as specified in /etc/resolv.conf even in the 1st case
