Hi there,

I have the following problem, hopefully somebody could help!

I need to access on a SCO-Unixware7-Server by telnet from a client. This is not possible, but only from this certain one, from other clients it works perfectly, i.e. they can access the server by launching telnet with no problems at all. This specific client by itself is also able to launch telnet on other Servers, but not on this Server. I reduced the Security-profile to the lowest level, with no result.

The services must have been started, otherwise it would not be possible to access by any other machine.

Any idea? I really hope to get a quick help,
thanks in advance
MK

Is this client on the same segment as the other clients? I would think that this a networking issue regarding IP addressing based off what I am reading.

what are the symptoms?
hanging?
connection refused?
can you ping it?
does its' name resolve?
does your client ip or name resolve?
"doesn't work" or "not possible" doesn't help much.

I am having the same problem with SCO Unix 5.0.5.

The symptoms are this. From some clients, the telnet session hangs. I start my emulator (either power term, or standard windows telnet) and it takes anywhere from 1 to 2 minutes to get a login. Everything works fine from there.

I can ping my server no problem at anytime.

Any help would be appreciated.

MoonKid73,

I just resolved my telnet issue. It had to do with a default gateway on the server. First off, I found out I was unable to ping clients from the server. Once I removed the default gateway on the server (route delete default) all was resolved. I'm not sure what I would do if they actually needed the gateway, but cross that bridge when you come to it.
