what is telnet and hyperterminal used for????
[2thumbsup]

telnet and hyperterminal are used for remote management of devices such as routers, switches, etc. It uses a protocol called VT-100 emulation.

Telnet:
A character oriented terminal, running a VTXXX (100, 200,,,) emulation, using TCP(/IP) for comunication. Mostly used as consol interface for Unix and Gnu/Linux machinery.

Hyperterminal:
basically the same thing, but using a serial line to do the communication (COM-port). A good old fasioned asynchronious terminal.
