Hi,

I have a teleworker in server only mode connected to DMZ port on a Fortigate Firewall.

Teleworker users can dial and receive calls from/to the office where the 3300 is at, and audio is excellent both ways. Even teleworker users can make successful calls to users that are at remote sites over vpn connections.

The problem is when a teleworker user tries to call another teleworker user... call is stablish but no audio at all.

Any ideas where the problem could be? Does audio path from teleworker users is stablished throug the firewall, through the MBG or directly from one user to the other?

I will appreciate any suggestions, regards,

Daniel

The issue will be in the routing from your gateway.

Ideally, you should have the TW server in the same network as the 3300 and set the TW server as the gateway for all calls outside the network. The local networks routing tables on the TW can then be set to route the traffic as necessary.

Failing that, you should set the routing gateway to route all traffic originating from the 3300's IP address to the TW server.

What is happening is the router is directing the traffic destined for external IP's (TW Sets) out the Data Internet connection and the packets are being lost.

KwbMitel,

Thanks for responding.

According to what I understood from the Eng. Guidelines, The TW Server is to be connected in the DMZ port of the F/Wall in a diferent interface/different subnet than where the 3300 is at.

But any ways, now that my TW is in the DMZ port of the firewall, I don't understand very clearly what you mean with routing all traffic from the 3300 to the TW... Do you mean that traffic to the outside word from the 3300 is routed to the TW instead of going straight to the WAN port of my firewall?

Thanks very much again, Regards,
Daniel

Sorry, I missed the DMZ bit. No audio or one way audio are always routing issues where the voice packets are typically sent to the internet via the wrong route.

Your specific issue i've never seen so hopefully someone with more DMZ experience can help out.

good luck.

Are those TW users located in the same network or two different places? Disabling local streaming option in TW settings can help some times.

in the server manager make sure you add the network in the local networks field
If the fault is peer to peer on the same site then it could be the local streaming option needs to be enabled

Slapin,

The TW users are NOT in the same subnet. TW sets are mainly for company directors who have one set at home.

I will try disabling Local Streaming option and let you know, I will also include a policy to allow trafic from WAN to WAN without NAT...

Thanks again,

Daniel

Do you get 2 way audio if you ring from an internal set to either of the TW sets?

bobcheese, YES I do get 2 way audio when calling from internal extension to TW sets.

also you can login to the root console and run tcpdump, so you will actually see what is going on in the network. use "host" filter to see just target traffic.

Slapin, Do you mean the root console on the 3300?? Can I do that by connecting to the serial port (Maintenance) on the 3300?

Guys, it works now!! I had to disable the "local streaming option" and also included a policy in my firewall to allow traffic from the WAN interface to the WAN interface (Without NAT).

Thanks very much to all of you, Regards,

Daniel
