Hi People
I wish to create a "nice printed " directory from Dna any ideas Thanks in advance Hitechbuzz

you must make an odbc connection to the sql server
and connect to the dmg database, in fo is in subscribers table. use thirdpty/thirdpty as user/password.

ms access or ms excel will do the trick

greetings,

Hi

why not use the print command within directory manager, select what fields you want included and it will print a comma delimited file that imports very easily into excel

Regards

You can also use the program export.exe which resides in the directory:

dna_c\dmg\bin

It creates text files (user.txt, func.txt, room.txt, external.txt dept.txt) in comma delimited format which when opened with excel can be imported. The each field won't be labeled though and you can work out whats what with the coresponding .def file.

The only thing not included in those files is keywords.

Keywords are included in the export files. Each user (depending on the version) will have a list of all keywords assigned to him at the end of his field.

whoops...I didn't check...Anyway it's even a good way to have a simple backup of the Directory as it's easy to import with dirpop.

Hello

You can also use the LDAP server service available in DNA 5 to browse the DMG database.

Thanks Guys
"whosrdaddy" I have not done much with the Sql data base so may leave that till I have some body around who knows a bit more.
"affirmation","meltidown" & "Buttonit" I will try to find time to have a further play with " print to file " but it will be a week at least before I can I had hoped that there was some thing that I could put on the Operators system to let her do the work.
"rorni" I am using DNA 4.1 may upgrade later in the year.
is there much advantage in using DNA5?
Thanks all
Brian
