Anyone experienced this?
Enter a name in either "user and devices" or "telephone directory" forms using the correct naming format
lastname, firstname, when searching for name (lastname) through phonebook it cannot be found, yet when you call the number the name shows up on screen.

Never seen that. If you put in only the first letter of the last name and scroll through, you still can find it?

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Exactly, enter one or even two characters, nothing comes up, ......

Got me tossed.

This is very unusual which can either be a weird problem or you not telling us something.

I can't help with weird so I'm guessing at missing info.

[li]Are you accessing the actual Phonebook via a superkey or softprompt or is it possible you're looking at the corporate directory?[/li]
[li]Is it a multi-controller site and you are looking up users on a different controller?[/li]

Check the privacy setting in the tel dir, if set to yes it will hide the name from the tel dir but when they call another phone it will show the name but not the number.

Also what type of phone are you using?
the Teldir is different on the large display phones

Hi All,

Thanks for responses.

Hidding nothing KwbMitel (that am aware of anyway!), tis really weird. And I can't figure it out and never seen it before. I'll add a tad more detail of site hardware:
- Site hosts approx. 80 - 90 IP handsets and 2 x 5550 IP consoles
- MXe hardware
one E1/T1 (E1 @ 30 channels each)
one dsp card
ASU II (one 24 port ons card) which supports overflow for embedded analog board to handel 8 fax machines
embedded voicemail ports = 20 (All for user mailboxes, no AAs)

So unless I have a resource issue? I manage a couple of other sites that a larger and more complex in nature
(MXE running mcd 4.2 though) and don't have issues.

Also any name changes are updating fine on 5550 IP consoles BLF. Its all to do just the phonebook search feature.

To answer other questions:

- Privacy definitely not set (first thing I checked)
- All handsets at site are either 5320 or 5330s
- Will definitely try a dbms check full command

If it kicks you when you are trying the search then I would definately do a dbms check full.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

Is it when trying to search from the 5550?
Had a situation at a site and found the search selecting the number not name column. user caused issue

Have witnessed and tried searching names on 5320 and 5330 devices only.
Console operators don't use name search but worth a try.

Am doing a dbms save this weekend while working on other tasks so will find out after that if problem disappears.

Try to delete the name in the Tel Dir, and just leave it in the User & Dev. Config

@WJ2600, you do know that the Name field in Users and Devices is simply a hook into the Tel Dir Right?

There is only 1 place the names are stored on the system. Tel Dir.

Tried dbms check full command over the weekend and didn't make any difference.

Today tried WL2600's suggestion, deleted an entry not showing up in phonebook search via telephone directory form (EG John Smith x123). Then went back into the user and device configuration form and added the name again.

Tried a Phonebook search again on Smith and this time the entry was found...... (Yippee & WTF Why?)

KwbMitel
I agree with you that user and device configuration name fields are a hook / window into tel dir form, perhaps on this occassion deleting a name via the TEL Directory form (being the old tried and tested method of assigning names) cleared out the DB cleaner than changing names on x123. Maybe a restart would have fixed it too.

Will keep you posted.......
Thanks again.

Weird. How were the names populated in the first place. Sounds like some type of corruption crept in.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

@Jakt99 - Based on your original post where you stated you had the issue whether the name was input via the Tel Dir or the User and Device form, I had naturally assumed you had tried clearing it out. Oh well, never assume.
