Anyone out there successfully set up T1/PRI service using TelePacific as a vendor?? I can get inbound calls - nothing outbound. They claim to have only two protocols (Standard - which they call NI-2 and Custom - which they call NI-1. They have no switch emulation apparently. I am configured as 5ESS - although I have tried 4ESS and DMS 100 with both of their switch protocols (NI-1 abd NI-2) - but still nothing on the D channel outbound - except a fast busy. They also can see nothing - meaning the Legend is not grabbing the D channel outbound.

They had one document suggestion a change in the Outgoing Table to 3,3,2,2,1,1 vs, the normal all zero's - but it made no difference.

Does your switch see their D Channel or is it getting any type of alarm? It is really tough since you said inbound is okay. Those people not having a switch emulation may be the issue. But just like always you have to prove it to them. I know this is not your first rodeo because of all the postings you have made on this forum. You know the drill start exchanging your hardware, totally review the barrier channels etc. I will ask my other colleagues about the vendor you are dealing with. lg

One other thing I forgot to mention. If you have a 100DCD and you have the internal DSU activated you might try it without it....I had one a while back that cost me some time before I decided to disable it and go external csu...I don't know I tried two different modules. lg

Thanks for the replies - the module is a Legend DS1 with TelePacific providing an Adtran (acting as a CSU/DSU). Still no luck on outbound. The Legend switch shows no errors. Inbound routing of DID's is perfect.

I don't know where your customer is located, but in California US TelePacific is using 5ESS switches where they are providing service.

Do you have access to any DS1 test equipment?

If you are working with a "tech" person, they need to review and check their translations and verify both trunk groups and route indexes. In the case of Primary ISDN you will have a minimum of two trunk groups, one for the B channels and one for the D channel and each will have a route index. Nothing will happen in the switch without a route index.

When you attempt to place a call and the Legend grabs a B channel do you see any activity from the YELLOW LED on the 100D module? A flash would indicate it is trying to get service from the CO. If the TelePacific tech can monitor the DCH, they should see that activity requesting service.

TelePacific will have a tech on site today with a T-Bird - but will only be testing inbound/outbound calls from the Adtran. The system is located south of LA (Long Beach). They claim their "Custom" (NI-1) setting is 5ESS. They only have two settings: Custom and Standard (NI-2). And, as mentioned above, I have tried both variations of their switch settings with different Legend switch types (4ESS, 5ESS, DMS 100) and also tried both variations of the Outgoing Table settings (all zeroes vs. 3,3,2,2,1) - the inbound still works - the outbound has no change. Maybe, I have a defective DS1 module??

Are they set to AT&T custom. Ihave always been told the Merlin will not work with NI1 Or NI2. I had one where they built it NI1 and it was the same as you it could recieve but not call out.

They claim - that their NI-1 is AT&T Custom and that their NI-2 is Standard - and that these are the only switch type/ protocols they have available. I will try replacing the DS1 module tomorrow - and see if that could be the issue.

I've seen this before too .. and every time it's turned out being a protocol issue with the CO.
They must use the custom setting.. some of those inside-CO techs think they know whats right and are a little hard-headed about setting it the way we request ...
If it is coming out of an ESS5, they have a custom setting, that's not NI1 or NI2 ..

They claim to ONLY have the two settings. We'll see what happens with the replacement T1 module.

I have done many PRI with Tele-pacific and all have been with AT&T custom, the few that we had problem with were alway set wrong , because they had set it up before with NI 1 before the test even though we had requested AT&T Custom

cvrbob - any advice on what I can tell them - who to call in their engineering group? The people I have been dealing with insist they ONLY have NI-1 and NI-2. Their tech - who came to the site - said he tweaked the Adran settings to be AT&T Custom - but I don't believe he can do that on site - vs. at their switch.

cvrbob - again, MANY thanks for your "special" help. Replacing the T1 had no effect. Finally - reprogrammed the system from scratch - and the PRI came up. Maybe - the constant changing of switch type, outgoing tables, etc. - confused the programming. TelePacific did end up having ONLY 2 options at their end: Custom and NI-2. The Custom setting worked after reprogramming the Legend from scratch.
