TelAlert on UNIX

I am a looooong time user of HPOV NMM and am thinking of using the TELALERT package for automatic notification. Is there some sort of shim program needed to make the UNIX sendmail properly send mail to an NT Exchange based mail system? I need to send alerts to "pager - oncall@skytel.com" and it didn't work as hoped. Also, to REALLY use TelAlert properly should I be going through my routers, switches, hubs and other trap senders and customizing the alerts sent and severity levels ? My network has about 150 routers, 5~700 switching hubs, 10,000 + PC's (discoverd but unmanaged), heaps of NT/WINDOWS 2K servers which I only slightly monitor (Compaq shop, we use Insight Mangler for overall server management). I actually do like HPOV and want to make it the core monitoring tool instead of what it generally is now, my tool for overall health monitoring. We want TelAlert to page/E-mail when sites go on dial or when a switch fails its poll. Thanks in advanvce for any advise and pointers.
