Tel set cleaner

To anybody out there who has had ever to clean a dirty telephone set...
Is there any one product or products that work better than the rest..and makes
the set look good...

For a general cleaning (gunky receiver cup etc) I find wet wipes do a decent job. Then there are cases where someone installs a Spirit system in a machine shop and cleaning is a megatask - I will use anything that doesn't melt the plastic. I have used paint thinner in these severe cases. I will be interested on what the other contributers use.

Years ago there was a cleaner/polisher in a spray can...
since discontinued...it was the best and it smelled pretty
good...made the tel sets look almost new...
Can't remember the name of the stuff...
Or have seen anything like it...

quantities...know of any place that sells a couple of cans.

Goo Gone works great, especially for getting of stickers, gum, old tape off of phones

For light cleaning I'll use a little mild soap and water. For something a little bit more extensive I'll spray some "409" into a towel.
