I use a 240i to print CD and DVD case inserts. I built a Powerpoint template which defines the insert boarders, and into which I drop graphics and text. Everything is fine except that the printer will not print the entire print area. I set the Powerpoint slide as custom size 11x8 - the insert graphic is centered on the slide and is 10.4" x 7.9". The printer is lopping off the length by about 1/4" on each end (actual print area comes out 9.9"). The printer paper is 8.5x11 Perf (with perf, paper is almost 12.5" long) - cat# 016-1183-00.

The printer works perfectly - I am sure this is a software issue, but I don't know if it is in Powerpoint or in the printer software. I tried printing a copy on an old HP4L and the entire print area printed on that printer, so I am inclined to think it is a printer issue.

Can anyone tell me where/how to set this thing to print a larger print area? Many thanks ....Roger

its is definately a software issue. Try this.

either set the paper size in Power Point to a custom size paper or

Copy and paste this graphic into Word. And set the margins in word to none. To set margins, got the word "file" then "Page setup". also you might need to tell word that the paper is of a custom size.

Let me know

Thanks for the tip - I will set the paper size and try that. One question - how large of an area should this printer be able to cover? The transfer roll color patches look to be about full paper size - will it print all the way to the edges (boarderless)?

One other thing I had wanted to try was to print CD/DVD Labels using the Colorcoat transfer roll - I had seen somewhere not to use thermal wax printers for this, but I wondered if the transfer roll system would work OK.

I am still trying to figure out how to print boarder less on my printer. (phaser 8400)

And I would not recomend doing the cd/dvd lables using the colorcoat transfer roll because it smudges. Unless you use the newer printers. Xerox fixed the technology and claimed to have fixed that problem.
