Hello friends and thank you for taking the time to look at my thread. I need help yet again. I recently built 10 PC's spec all the same..intel 2.8 dual core/1 gig ddr2/asus P5PL2 mobo/ati x1650 gfx card(DVI out but connected to VGA monitor via an adapter plug). All units functioned fine and were burn in tested for 24 hours. But 1 unit kept restarting giving the recovered from serious error message. I looked in event viewer and noticed about 10 errors all recorded together after start up 1 was ATI2MTAG error event 43033 and all the other 9 were EDID checksum error. I looked at the other 9 units and all have the EDID check sum error(each unit 9 times after start up) but all 9 function fine. My question is not about the unit that shuts down but it is to ask what EDID checksum error is.I am at a lose because the checksum error does not seem to affect the good 9 units? Any light shed on this would be greatly appreciated.

sounds like either:

1.) Driver problem (GFX card)... Update to the latest drivers...

or

2.) the GFX cards in use are defective... Replace...

PS: I am betting on point 2... ATI x1650 and x1950 have had a batch of faulty cards... just GOOGLE for the error, and lo and behold all about ATI ;)
