Hello all. Looks like a great place for resources.

I am a former programmer (ISP), who accumulated a decade's worth...or important files, scripts, manuals, software, etc; on my Passport.

Well...it's sh*t the bed on me; and I don't really, want to spend the ~$1500 I've been quoted, to recover it.

So A) I'm hoping to find a resource, for at at least some of those most-important of files lost...

and/or B) a recommendation, for a data-recover service; that doesn't price-rape you...when they have you over a barrel.
I'm hoping, I have a lead on this now. Thanks
Thanks,
HTSC

Is this for Gilbarco's Passport?
Are you wanting to recover these files from a hard drive or online somewhere?

There's plenty of dyi things you can try but its only worth it if the data isn't valuable. If the data is important to you just eat the cost. That really is the best solution. $1500 seems high but that depends on so many different things.
One way to reduce costs is to provide your own drive to transfer data to, some places include the cost of the replacement drive in their quote with a modest upcharge of course. Talk to the rep about providing your own drives.
Good luck, let us know how it works out for you.
