Gurus, one and all:

My machine is holding me hostage! Despite trolling the 'Net, beggaring Xerox's tech site, and reading the entire set of posts on this thread, I find no ransom available.

As a literary agent, author, and technical yoyo, I need this bloody machine more than it needs me (clearly) and any help offered will be profoundly appreciated.

Things done to date:

1. standard maintenance - clearing all paths, checking for jams, emptying ink sludge tray, and so on
2. checked (and changed) paper setting tab on front right inner aspect of upper media tray - with no result but a smirk I am certain I heard issue from the intestines of the beast

Help is solicited, prayers are welcome

Check on the right side of the tray, you should see 3 holes. in the top one should be a plug which indicates it is a letter-size tray. the middle hole is for a4 size paper.

This plug probably fell out, if you can't find the plug.. solve it with a piece of sello tape.

PLEASE... I wrote that the plug is intact - I have done everything but sing this monster a lullaby; can you think of any other reason for this "replace upper media tray" message?

I need this up and running today - strange things will happen if it isn't...

thanks for anyone who cares enough to respond and to you, Dacurve for taking the time to respond even though the plug is intact
