Teeny dots in p9 field

Lately, I've noticed tiny little dots in a field after I enter data. They look like periods..but smaller. When I click on the field (in a form)...they go away..but when I click off the field...they're BAAAAaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAak. Anybody know what this is and how to fix it?
