Tecra 8000 (Solaris 8) 1

Hi ppl
Ive installed solaris 8 on a tecra 8000 (neomagic chipset (i think) is the video card)
can someone please point me in the right direction to find drivers etc.
i am a newbie to solaris

any help appreciated

Thanks ever so much for your help. THis is great . Did you manage to get sound installed, also I have a xircom card - any ideas on how to get it working (its an ethernet/modem card)

I didn't use the audio for so far on Intel. But you can redirect a file to /dev/audio like cat file.au > /dev/audio. The file must be of Sun audio format (.au extension). However on a sparc system I installed a MP3 player from

http://www.sunfreeware.com

which works fine. But not as fancy as WinAmp, it uses the command line interface.

About your network card: you could check with ifconfig -a maybe it is just down. I have a 3com card which uses /dev/elx.

In the HCL from Sun I found this:

There si a laptop mentioned (not Toshiba) which uses a xircom pcmcia card which runs with a driver from lynnsoft.com but they charge $100 for a driver. May be it's more interesting to buy a 3com card.
