Tecmar backup

I have a tecmar travan tape backup and am trying to find drivers and firmware upgrades. The backups are constantly failing and i am sure it needs updates. Any ideas from anyone. Tecmars website is not online and their phone number is disconnected.

have another question...

if i were needing another backup they can get very expensive. Why do i not just buy two 250GB external hard drives ($300 ea.) and save my information nightly on those hard drives. What are the advantages/disadvantages to doing that versus tape backup.
