did it a long time ago and forgot, how do i automatically during boot-up start TeaPop ? and how do i check if it's currently running on a RedHat pc ?

thanks..

currently running? [tt]ps fax | grep program[/tt]

run at boot? take a look to /etc/init.d and /etc/rc3.d

Cheers.

when i do "ps fax | grep teapop on the pc where it is working i get:

16414 pts/1 S 0:00 \_ grep teapop

when i do it on the pc where i don't think it works i get:
3207 pts/1 S 0:00 \_ grep teapop

i hit submit too fast... when i do a search on files that contain 'teapop' on the pc where it works i get no results except for the teapop file.

thanks in advance..

so, is it displayed in the "ps fax |grep teapop" or not?

oh, BTW, in order to insert a new script in the rcX.d folders use:

[tt]chkconfig[/tt] in redhat (and redhat-based distors)
[tt]update-rc.d[/tt] in debian (and debian-based distros)

Cheers.

yes, with the difference that the "pts" (not sure what it means) on thw working pc is 1 and on the other pc it's 0.

If it's working, but doesn't seem to be running, maybe it's running under xinetd. Check in /etc/xinetd.d for a config file.

there is a "ipop3" config file in xinetd.d. is there any way to start TeaPop from the command line ?

There's documentation at TeaPop's web site. Try "man teapop" to start; it looks like "teapop" is the program file.

unfortunately no 'man' available.. i located the TeaPop file and it says it's an executable yet if i try to start it it won't.

Which options are you passing to it? Are you trying to run it as a standalone app, or as a daemon?

I've never heard of Teapop, but the man page on their web site has a list of options for it, and there's a FAQ which might help.

i tried option -s and currently i get a return message saying "bind: Address already in use", and (obviously) when i check with 'ps -C teapop' i don't see it running..
