We're having problems with the 'Teaming' function after moving the server (Proliant ML370) from a shared hub to a switched netwok. Originally both NIC's where connected to seperate hubs connected to form a stack and Teaming worked OK.

We've now replaced each hub with Cisco 2924 switch, again each switch is connected together to form a stack, only teaming is no longer working.

I was wondering how the Teaming function operated. Does it use a layer 2 multicast frame ? in which case the switches should flood all ports with the frame.

Any ideas please.

First, if you purchased your server and NIC's from an "Authorized Compaq Reseller" then contact them for assistance. They have an obligation to help support your purchases.

You may also contact Compaq Technical Support.

As long as you are using 100% Compaq components, you should not have a problem doing what you describe unless you have configured something on the switches themselves (VLANS, etc.) Also, make sure that you are running the latest Compaq NIC drivers (not Intel drivers!!!) available for download from the Compaq site.

I have experienced similar issues with this on other Compaq models recently (DL's) requiring replacement of the Main Logic Board, however, the ML series has been solid with the NIC Teaming feature on the 29xx series switches.
