I need to know how to team nics on a compaq server with Linux as the OS. This is very different from teaming in windows!! Please help!!

Firstly.. in order to team the NICs you need to have a recent service pack installed on NT4, Win2k is ok

If the compaq drivers have been installed, there should be a green icon in the system try that looks some what like a network card!

Simply double click on the icon, which will display the teaming and configuration window.

Highlight each nic that you wish to team and click the TEAM button

When you OK the settings the network configuration should be re-bound and prompt you for the IP address of the Team.

Configure as normal and reboot the box

Hope this helps

I already know teaminig for windows OS, I was saying teaminig for Linux OS.

I have a very starnge , multi-homed Compag Proliant 3000 server with two 1 GB Comag NICs. and I have Nortel Paspport 8600 Swith, I tried to make a teaming to the two NICs with NT4 SP 5 server. the teaming go well, but I have more than 40 workstation a lot of them this couldn't ping the sever, but part of them is OK, we have a DHCP server no subnetting problem exist. sometimes, a workstion working for A WHILE IF ANY OTHER WORKSTATION GET IN THE SERVER, ONE OF ALREADY CONNECTED ONE IS DISCONNECTED !!!? i DONT kNOW WHY.
???
Secondly I try to mak a trunking of two ports that connected to this server ( as layer 2 ) at the Nortel Switch, but the teaming is not working at all ..???
