i would like to be able to login to my computer at my school but it only has a http proxy installed at address 172.16.1.3 port 8080 that's what ie uses. i can get the ip of myself (from a computer over the internet not on the network) and it comes to 172.16.1.21 port 6891. i dont fully understand how this works and i know i cant telnet through http proxy but i was wondering if there was some way i can access my account. thanks.

sounds like you're firewalled ...

if you have to use a proxy to get out it probably means that you don't have direct access to the internet from your school pc ... if you don't have direct access to the internet then the internet doesn't have direct access to you.

can you ping an external ip address from your school machine?
