TDS Stream error

Have a VBD Intranet app that is accessing a SQL7 database

I sometimes get this error from the app when sending a request to retrieve data from the server to the client side.

[Microsoft] [ODBC SQL Server Driver] Protocol error in TDS stream.

Could this error be cause by bandwidth issues or slow/bad connection?
