Hello,

I've got a switch (Option 81C) that's not seeing DTMF accurately or (sometimes) not at all. Sometimes it sees a # as a * or 0 as a 9.

There's six TDS cards, on loops 0, 16, 32, 48, 64 and 80. (All test OK.)

Are all of the slots from all of these cards up for grabs to any phone that wants them, or do certain TNs use certain TDS cards?

Thanks for any comments or suggestions.

I'm getting these in the midnight routines.

The error reference indicates the following below.

Digits sent do not match digits received or the number of digits entered for TABL is incorrect.
Severity: Minor

The Tone and Digit Switch and Digitone Receiver diagnostic program (LD 34)
tests packs used in generating and detecting tones in the system. Response
to commands for the Dial Tone Detector card are output as DTD messages.
Response to commands for the Tone and Digit Switch card are output as TDS
messages.

It looks as if you may have to reset some of your TDS cards.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

test your dtr cards.. phones use the dtr from the same group. if they are busy they can tandem, but in your case it will be in the same group 99 percent of the time

Thanks firebirdscrambler and johnpoole

@firebirdscrambler
When you say "reset" do you mean disable and re-enable DTR cards, or out and rebuild?

(I have three DTRs and all the units pass the test in LD34)

Thanks again.

DTRs listen for touch tones on analog phones. TDS sends tones out the system.

There is no valid test of a DTR card other than to pull ALL of them out except one, and see if you can dial. People will say otherwise, but I've rarely seen a DTR report itself bad, but I have seen a few go bad and not tell me.

I think firebirdscrambler would want you to disable your Conf/TDS cards one at a time and re-seat them.

Unless your trouble is only related to Analog, it isn't the DTRs.

But since your errors are so unusual, I would not hesitate to do both... and I would not hesitate to consider a Sysload either. It's pretty serious when you cannot dial.

Thanks GHTROUT.

Unfortunately I'm in Dallas and the PBX is in Saginaw, MI.

The problem isn't just analog ports and it's intermittent, so that's always fun. They did have a problem with misdials from fax machines about a month ago, so I routed them to a different trunk group, which they said fixed the problem.

They were supposed to let me know if they had any more problems at the time, but now tell me (a month later) that the problem never really got cleared.

So I'm trying to decide if it's a problem with the PBX or with the trunks, which is kind of tough with the PBX in a different state. (The trunks are on different PRIs but now I'm being told they might be routed over the same DS3 circuit.)

To make things even more fun, the PBX did take some power hits about two months ago.

The specific complaint now is that one employee, who uses an M2616 and tests IVRs for different clients isn't always getting the correct digits. (There's around 300 phones at the location, so I'd probably being getting more complaints if the problem was widespread.) So, even though the TDS cards all show as testing OK, I suspect it's probably one of them that's causing the intermittent problems.

Anyway, thanks again. I'll let everyone know if and when I find out what the problem is.
