I have a port on a TDL card with a 4412D+ phone connected to it. When I plug the phone in directly to the port the phone doesn't work all. All I get is a flashing messaging waiting light. When I plug the phone into any other port on the same card it works fine. Any suggestions?

What port number and how are you plugging it in?

Off hand, around the third port of the second or third TDL card. I plug a single pair 66/mod plug onto the 66 block with the phone plugged into it directly without any other wiring connected to that port. The only thing I can think of is that the port is programmed for a different phone than I'm trying to plug in. For instance I'm plugging in a 4412D+ phone and it's looking for a 4424D+ phone. I thought the system went out and looked for the type of phone that is connected when you start programming that extension and you don't have to tell it what phone is connected. I could be way off base!

Could be the wiring going to the 66 block.

That prot is defined as an OPERATOR Position.

Change that, and you can use a 4412.

Yes, but... even sso, he should get an "Invalid 44xx DLC Position," on the display or something to that effect, shouldn't he?

Already checked the wiring to the 66 block. Yes that could possibly be defined as an operator port. I know that the operators can only be on certain ports (port 3), but this extension isn't assigned as an operator extension in programming. Is there somewhere else in programming that I might have that port assigned as an operator? Thanks!

No. I would also look in maintenance under ports to check that specific port's status and see if the system busied the port out - indicating maybe a "bad" port on that card.

Pull the hood off of the Amphenol connector, and see if it is wired properly. We have been getting 25' double male cables, and found miswires, especially in the Black/Orange Black/Brown areas. If they made the same mistake at both ends, it would still pass their continuity tests. If it was a single-ended cable, it didn't get tested at all.

Good stuff to know, thanks for the input guys! I'll check all the suggestions.
