I'm going to need to go on-site anyway, but I was wondering if there was a way to know if there is a tda5196 remote access card installed through the programming console?
I've looked through the Unified programming console, and not found any mention of it - am I missing something?
I'd rather not open the box unless I need to...

Connecting into the system through VM does not work since the settings don't allow to transfer to an extension. [sad]

TIA

providing that remote programing is enabled You can dial in remotely using voicemail by calling the lead btn and when it answers key in #8 xxx if you get a modem squeal then there is a 5196 in it . you can whilst on site dial intercom xxx from any from any phone on the system and if you get hear a modem squeal ....
this virtual ext number value is located in umpc 11.1 under the remote tab... Since all the real techs know this info i generally change the value

Thanks cwc3.
I had forgotten about the #8 option - I'm usually using the #6 option.
I knew about the umpc 11.3 info but that didn't tell me if the remote card was actually installed.

It's not getting the modem squeal ... dang. [sad]
Time for an upgrade!

yes if you ring from a display set on site if its in there
you will see xxx:Modem if not you'll get a fast busy
you are doing the right thing external modems take up an analog ext and are just not as reliable as a 5196
while you are doing open heart kick it up to a 5.021 ,,,,
