Hi guys I looked at a site yesterday and it has a Mitel 200
EL in the main building and has 4 fiber spines to four of (found out the a mitel icp will not support the legacy fiber spines from the old Mitel Light days {which I find a little hard to believe})its out buildings and not sure if there is any legacy copper in place . what I am wondering is can I put a tda 200 in and reuse the fiber that feeds these buidings? like possibly doing copper to all the locations in the main building and like putting in a
a small voice network in and uplink to the remote buildings
via the fiber that is in place and using the panasonic ip phones plug into a hub/switch I was hoping that peter or sharor trotsky or othe tda guys have any insight or have the actually done a project like this I am sure the
TDA 200 will come in way below the MITEL ICP with all of their ala carte features that the tda does out of the box!!

I don't know much about fiber networks at all really, my IT guy works all that out for me normally. But as long as you have enough bandwidth between the switches, you'll be fine.

Depending on the bandwidth available between the fiber ends, you'll have to play with the codecs that the handsets use but thats really quite straight forward.

I had another brainstorm and may be cheaper and better
than using the ip phones
put a 200 in the main building and then
tda 50's in the out buildings just network the systems
with the gateway cards there is already a network
between all these locations and then just use all
legacy copper in the buildings no wall wart or POE nightmares and actually makes doing single line stuff and cell stations will be more flexable not to
mention that if there are any lagacy pots lines
in the out building you can just plug right into the
50's the only draw back that I can see is that release 2.2 that is supposed to support a centralized voicemail is not out yet!!what do you think will it work?

Yeah that'll work too. I was gonna suggest it but the voice mail issue is a killer.

Will it blow the price out of the water if you had to put a TVM/TVA at each of the systems??

shar if you still have my email address can you drop me a line so i have yours!

if it was me i would just go with the 200
it would ofcorse have a band with issue ..how many pc and phones in the out house.if on fiber there wont be any loss so u just have to find out what kind of bandwith you have to play with.
lets know when you have the info

peter

I think 2 buildings have a total of 15 phones
and the other 2 have 5 each!! P I I will be over in Dublin on tuesday!!

great i off for xmas from friday 16th

as for above question if both out houses have there own hub with their own fiber back to the main office then you will have no problem at all ie 5 x 32 = 160kb your hub = 10x1000= 1000kb spare for 5 x pc 840
if you needed more you could upgrade hub to 10x400 but i belive they ar pricy well ....here they are

maby i will see you when you are over
