td816 How to reset system password

Hi,

I have been assigned the task of installing a used td816 unit this week. I have no idea if the default system password (1234) has been changed on this unit.

If it has been changed, is there a way to reset it?

one way is to take the cabinet appart and find the battery on the main board and remove it for a few minutes that will default everything

I dont know of a "backdoor" defualt password though there may be one

Man, you don't need to take the cabinet apart (sorry skip555). Just slide the switch on the side to "Clear", press the reset button next to it (the power light will blink). Slide the switch back to normal.

Quite correct, do not open the unit. Just as the previous post (mrpeabody) stated:
1) slide the switch to 'clear'
2) press the 'reset' button
3) watch the power LED blink a few times
4) slide the switch back to 'normal' (not more than 10 seconds after step 2)
5) the system will reboot and revert to factory default.
