Hey: I'm a TD dealer. I have a TD1232-4. My customer is out in the boonies. The only way to get fast internet currently is Satelite. Which on a cloudy day isn't so hot.
My customer has spoken to AT&T and they are suggesting a T1. They are currently running twelve copper lines. I've never put a T1 in. Looks like it is do able. My question would be. If this is possible, what kind of CSU would I need to get my 12 channels of the T and have an output for the Data. I've seen where the ADTRAN ACE is recommended. Looks like that is only going to give me all the channels for lines.
My customer also enjoys the Caller ID. Will they still be able to get CID on the TD with the T installed? While doing this upgrade. Would there be a reason to go ahead and upgrade it to the Dash-6 for reliability issues? How reliable is the T1. Being in the boonies. Would you really abandon all your copper for this T?

Thanks

if this is fractional T1 they should provide the dsu/csu
the one att t that I saw had a regular rj21x off of it and all you did was
connect it to the loop start lines just like befor....
Big ? can att provide caller id on the 12 ?
keep your lead number(with call fwd on it) and fax copper if they can afford it have dsl on it for fall back and a clear path for voip in future....

If AT&T is going to use an IAD (Integraed Access Device) like a Cisco or Adtran, then that should work for your system. The 12 lines would have an analogue connection between the IAD and 1232. The CID should be available on the analogue connection. The Internet would be an Ethernet connection from the IAD for your LAN. You will want to provide a UPS for the IAD, so if you have a power interruption, you won't lose all service.

if this is strictly a voice application upgrade to a -5
and do a pri much more features .....

The whole reason for the change is for Data. They want to get 3 mg of data. So AT&T using IPFlex wants to install a Cisco 2810 or 2811 router. Giving me a BRI port for my twelve channels of Voice. Seems I could upgrade them to a DASH-6 and install the TD290 ISDN Card.
So I take it that I could plug the TD290 card into the 2810 router to get my 12 lines. This would get me my both way trunks. If this is true, I'm still concerned that Caller ID name and number will not be available on the TD just number. Let alone the fact that I've not been able to locate a new TD290.

Thanks

I helped someone here with the exact same requirements teched him remotely
