TD vs TDA

I know the old TD will soon be discontinued. I was curious if the new TDA was as good? still have the same features? have the xdp feature still? Does it have its own vmail system? general thoughts on this system would be great. I was once certified on the td systems, had switched to being a Comdial dealer, now they are in hot water, might switch back.

What's up with Comdial? I dont deal in Comdial, mostly Norstar and some Panasonic but I have a competitor that sells alot of Comdial, so just curious.

to answer your question

the td is set to go however the replacment is a vast improvment... it does still have the same features and a lot more.it does still have xdp & now has digi xdp also.
features include cli routing past grp ringing
group in group ringing (ie ) a ring grp made up of multi grps.
it now has voip cards
it doesent have a built in v/mail but has an external v/m system ( TVM ) which leaves the tvp,tvs standing
it can even email the messages out to you.
panasonic have come a long way in the last 2 years
and with the tda 600 on test at the moment once released should put them back in the top again

Yeah, but you get around it by using Incoming call distribution groups, and they give you heaps more flexibility anyway with overflows and call forwards from groups that work much better than the old TD.

You really couldn't call the way you do ring assignments on the TDA a drawback, its heaps easier now.

The VOIP option of the TDA, they offer IP phones? or softphones? or is it just VOIP networking them together?

Also have they done something about Vmail coverage. ie., eliminate the silly FWD button flashing all the time?

it is just networking them togethe over isdn or adsl
you are right at the moment a system on each sight is required so in effect the voip is realy a fancy tie line but it is on test a the moment for real voip where only a hub is required and ip phones will be on sale before xmass

IP phones have been available since january. They are the NT136 model handsets. THey also require a power adapter or power from the LAN they are connected to.

The networking side of the VoIP stuff is essentially QSIG over IP. Works well getting the ID and name of remote extensions. You can also have a centralized operator with DSS keys for off site extensions if you purchase the new SD card and put it into the system instead of the one that ships with the unit.
