IANA has it listed as....

ssh 22/tcp SSH Remote Login Protocol
ssh 22/udp SSH Remote Login Protocol

In the real world I don't know what software package would use that....

SSH is Secure Shell.. a UNIX tool that allows u to administer your server remotely, from anywhere in the world.. using strong cryptography and encryption... it uses RSA, 3DES, DES and more to encrypt data over an insecure connection such as the internet, or other such public network.....

it runs as both a server and client on a machine, and although it inherently runs on UNIX machines, there is a port for Windows, both server and client....

it is a must for those that use Telnet.. as Telnet does not encrypt data, and will transmit your passwords and other critical information in clear text...

SSH can also be used to setup secure tunnels for other applications, such as SMTP, IMAP 4 and more... sort of like a VPN, or alternative to IPSec... all information is routed through the SSH tunnel, and then another SSH client will decrypt the information and then pass it on to the right application for processing.....

good luck
