Hi everyone,

I tried to connect with Enternet the other day and when I couldn't connect it said "The program failed to locate a suitable adapter to make a connection. There needs to be a TCP stack bound to your adapter."

Anyone know what that means?

Tell us which OS you are running so that we can tell you how to do it.

Looks like your binding between your NIC and the TCP/IP stack is turned off.
Check your network connection (Start / rightclick on network locations and choose properties) select your connection and rightclick again and choose properties and look if the TCP/IP stack is enabled or even installed.

Ahh, I clicked on Start but I don't see network locations...

You need to go to Control Panel.

In Control Center, I see Network and dial-up networking but no network locations.

okay, I'll try again, I did not had a real ME station but now i do have one to walkt trough. It is a dutch version so I will try to translate everything. The story will be different then the first one (i was using XP there):

- Go to your configuration screen
- Open the option NETWORK
- Check that you are in the CONFIGURATION tab
- You should at least se there the following in the screen:
* Your NIC for example: Realtek RTL8039
* TCP/IP -> RealtekRTL8039

The second point above is the TCP/IP stack that is "bound" to your NIC. If it is not there do the following steps:

- Click the ADD button
- Select PROTOCOL and click ADD
- On the new screen on the left select MICROSOFT (probable the only choice)
- On the right screen click TCP/IP
- click OK

For these actions you may be pointed to insert your ME CD and after the installation you probably have to reboot.

Hope all this helps you out.

Yep, I see both of those.

oke, so your stack is there.
According to the message in your first post it then looks like the stack is inoperable or corrputed. You can delete the entry
* TCP/IP -> RealtekRTL8039
and then install TCP/IP agin using the instructions from the previous post:

Click the ADD button
- Select PROTOCOL and click ADD
- On the new screen on the left select MICROSOFT (probable the only choice)
- On the right screen click TCP/IP
- click OK

For these actions you may be pointed to insert your ME CD and after the installation you probably have to reboot.

Hope all this helps you out. Iff all this still doesn't work it is getting complicated to do it over a forum like this. But we will wait and see

dude,

Your TCP/IP stack is not or improperly loaded in you network properties.

Choose the network in control panel and redo or add the tcpip stack again and restart. thats it you will be good to go after you add the stack be carefull to see if you want the ip from a dhcp source or you one to give the ip yourself

enjoy and take care

I tried replacing it, but it didn't work. :/
And I did bind it in network neighborhood. Oh well, thanks anyway people.
