How does Exchange access TCP ports on client machines? Is the request made from the client or pushed from the server as mail arrives?

Not sure exactly 'bout teh TCP end of it, but when mail is first recieved by the ISP, Exchange retrieves it, and then has it queued in the Incoming Mail awaiting Conversation queue, then Exchange checks the email address and sends it to the mailbox on the Exchange server, where for a split second its queued in the Incoming Mail awaiting Delivery queue. Once in the mailbox, and the clients have Outlook open, their Outlook will check their mailbox on the server (every second or so) and see a new mail and it will appear in their inbox. But do note that the mail always stays on the Server, and is never saved on the clients machine, unless they have personal folders set up in outlook, in which case, a .pst file will hold the mail.
Well this is how I precieve it anyway!! Hope this provieds some insight to how it works!!!! Jay~
