Are there any log files that can be looked at to check if the server had any issues with it's TCP ports ?
For example, we had a call logged that port 8008 was unreachable (I think it was a network issue, but I would wouldn't I ;-) )

thanks in advance,

madra

If you are running something that is supposed to LISTEN on port 8008 you can use:

netstat -an | grep LISTEN and look for 8008 or
netstat -an | grep 8008

If you don't see anything, then whatever is supposed to be listening is not there.

thanks psi

I'm looking for historical-type logs (similar to errpt maybe).

My guess is they don't/won't exist as there would be too much information to log.

thanks
