I have 4 servers running NT4 named as follows
1) dav_srv_01
2) davsrv01
3) dav_srv_02
4) davsrv02
They have all been running concurrently for a bout 5 months with no problems. Suddenly yesterday servers 2 & 3 could not be contacted on the network. All 4 servers are running TCP/IP and all have static addresses. Anyway after a little investigation I found that if servers 1 & 3 were on the network then 2 & 4 couldn't be even though they all have unique ip addresses. After speaking to our Administrator he reckons that TCP/IP has a problem ith names of the same name using dashes and underscores. Can anyone explain why when I changed there names (servers2&4) to srv01 and srv02 they worked fine??

Not really sure but it doesn't sound very likely regarding the name with an underscore, especially considering they worked fone for 5 months.

Considering the Naming I assume they have something in common?
