Not strictly a TCP/IP question, but something has gone horribly wrong....Please direct me if this is the wrong place to post..THANKS

We bought 2 machines (lasers) that have nt4 workstations on them, they were part of the mydomain domain, I set up a windows 2000 workstation and wanted all three to be on a workgroup...So i set up the first 1 no problem, Took it off the domain, created a workgroup and assigned fixed IP address...the second machine, will not respond at all, i have given it IP address 10.10.10.3 and set everything up correctly..but i cant see or ping the other workgroup computers..and if i do a ipconfig /all in a command prompt, my IP address`s dont show up? I set them up, I know they are there...

I have to work all weekend to get this fixed...does anyone have any clue whats wrong?

PS cable is fine, and i can ping 127.0.0.1...

MANY THANKS

James

Hi there,
might be to simple to be your problem.
Are both machines in the same subnet?

bye busche

Yes they are,
I also noticed under ipconfig /all

It doesnt show the settings for ethernet adapter?

I know the card works, the lights are also on...Why cant it be seen? Ive tried everything I know..

Many thanks if you could stop me from going mad...

James

Do you mind if I ask what the winsock service is?

I will try this now...

I Really hope it works.

Im a little afraid of running this, as this machine is connected to lots of controllers?

Will it only fix the ethernet adapter?

Thanks

James

In the event viewer I found this:

"the 3com 3c90x BC Driver service failed to start due to the following error, a device attached to the system is not functioning"

Event ID 7000

??? I have no idea what this means?

And how do you in NT4, update a device driver? I cant see an option anywhere? windows 2000 was easy as it was in devices?

Oh I wish I could fix this!
