Hi folks:

Recently I believe I took a hit from installing a new piece of software. What is happening winsocks would not initialize. so I
removed winsock.dll in both \winnt\system32 and \winnt\system32\dllcache\. I tried to replace wsock32.dll in both folders but could not or it did not let me override the origanal wsock32.dll in the system32 folder.
I then decided to uninstall TCP/Ip which went ok. prior to this I had to removed print and unix services. after the PC rebooted I then install both print and unix services. From there I tried to install the TCP/IP protocol with no success. The following message appears Network Connections X Could not add requested component, the error is:A non recoverable error occured during a database lookup. My
question is does anyone know what this means
Help,Help.

I have found that it works best when I remove all of the networking components - all protocols and network adapters. Then re-install everything.
