I have a small program that I wrote that uses TCP/IP to send and receive data. You can set up the computer to act as a client or server. I have one instance of this program on my laptop running Vista and one on a desktop running XP Pro. I can communicate between the two with no problem, each acting as a server or client. When I move the app to a Server 2003 machine, I can't get it to send data. The Windows firewall is off and they are all on the same domain, switch, etc. Is there something about 2003 that is preventing this?

Thanks,

Shannan

The windows firewall may be off, but the other in-house firewall could be on. you should check with your network admin to verify whether or not there is an additional firewall, and if so you will have to "punch a hole in the firewall"

Actually I am the network administrator. If it were the main firewall it looks like it would have blocked the info from the laptop from the dekstop also. They are all on the same subnet, etc.

Have you tried running both the client and the server on the Server2003 box?

You may have to register the .dll for the server app with the GAC on the server, so that it can see it.
