hi guys... long story i'll try keep brief.
i have a network of 20 pc's (xp and 98) also 1 app. server (win2k server), 1 g4 mac and 1 adsl router.
all of these are connected to hubs on 10.0.0.x (255.0.0.0)
have maclan on 98 pc for appletalk to mac and this pc is also connected to rest of the network.
since installing the win2k server have found that the maclan connection between the pc and the mac has virtually dissappeared (bandwidth wise). (what took 1 minute now takes 1 hour)
i have since disabled network virus checking from the win2k server and have uninstalled the win2k server's appletalk services)... no luck! faulty hub?
if you have a suggestion for the above would be gr8tly appreciated... but if not read on
my question to you is... if i install another nic in the 98 pc and run a straight cat5 from nic 1 to the hub for the companies network and a twisted cat5 from nic2 stright to the mac, do i need to change the class of network or subnet to keep the nic2 / mac network separate from the 10.0.0.x?
thanks and sorry for lengthy message...
