TCP/IP server not seeing other ipx servers 1

I have set up a Netware 5 server and workstation to test the use of a IP only connection and it works to a point. The server can only see it's self and the workstation can see the server. However we can only see one other server (a tcp/ip box). None of the ipx servers are seen, and if we "ping" the IP servers address from another workstation on the same branch of the network, it answers. But if we ask for a name it comes up blank, or if we ping it from another workstation further away (another room) it does not answer at all. Any Ideas?

Couple of questions. Do the IPX servers have IP on them? You mentioned that the new server is IP only. It may not see IPX only connections.
Is the net mask set up correctly? If one IP box has an address of 128.1.1.1 and another has 128.1.2.1 and both have a mask of 255.255.255.0, then they won't see each other.
Well, that is exactly right. Your IP only server/client only speaks IP and the older server/clients speak only IPX. If you add the IPX stack to both the IP only devices, then they can see and talk to the IPX machines.
This is the big change with NetWare 5 - it can speak pure IP, never before possible in the Novell world. If you get into the 5 world, there are ways to make the gradual change from IPX to IP more friendly. This is using the "compatibility mode drivers" and "migration agents", a fairly heavy topic....
