Have 4 PC's on lan with Linksys Router and DSL modem. E PC's working fine, lan and internet, Auto IP addressing.
4th PC with WinXP would not access the lan w/o a static IP address and not the internet. I further complicated things by installing IPv6, which I quickly uninstalled, however the TCP/IP stack was corrupted and now I can't even ping localhost.

I did a clean install of WinXP on another drive and it works fine. Can I transfer reg settings to get the bad one working? Any ideas, I'm sure out of them. The fact that the other drives works I believe eliminates hardware.

Easiest and least messy way to do this would be to reload XP. Hacking the registry for TCP/IP could cost you some hair lose.
What does the error message say when you try to ping the loopback? Jordan MCP, A+

Thanks for the prompt reply. Have already reinstalled XP, no help. Error message is "Unable to contact IP driver, error code 2".
