Is there a card available for the Merlin Magix system that would allow you to connect WinSPM by TCP/IP ethernet interface instead of a direct connection? If so, does the connection operate faster?
It would be nice to be able to manage the system from another computer other than the one hooked into it. I currently have to use VNC to control the machine in the room with the phone hardware. The direct connection we have is such a pain to manage since it is so slow, I think 2400 baud through COM1.

The Answers:

"...card ...allow .... connect WinSPM by TCP/IP ethernet..?"

Yes, it's called SOCKET MAGIX

"...does the connection operate faster?"

No, still 2400

"..from another computer other than the one hooked into it."

Socket Magix will allow that, since it is now just another address on your network.

Actually, I was on site the other day, and the NETWORK ACCESS was done by way of Microsoft's REMOTE DESKTOP CONNECTION from ANY MACHINE in the NETWORK to the one tied to the LEGEND.

"... have to use VNC ...."

I know not what that is.

"...is so slow, I think 2400 baud through COM1...."

That's the way it is and shall always be.

Bell Labs wouldn't spring the extra buck or 2 to boost the speed to 9600, that would have been plenty fast.

If you're stuck on VNC management, you're doing about the best you can. The only other option, is to use the Remote Access for the System, and manage via remote modem.
At least that way, you're not using up a computer on site to manage it.
