Is there a virus that will disable TCP/IP ??? A client of mine had a "3rd party" come in and "fix" some things. When he left, all hell broke loose.

After about 8 hours, I was able to:

1. Gain a dynamic IP adress using their DHCP server.
2. Use NetBui to share resources (So I know cables and hubs work)

I checked the sub-net mask and the the default gateway, and they were all the same. (As they should be if given out by DHCP).

Problem is, I can't ping any of the machines.

The same guy went back out there, and insists they had a virus. They ended up F-disking a bunch of drives and actually lost some data due to inferior (Re:none) backup procedures. Tyrone Lumley

Anything is possible but I would find that highly unlikely. Pretty much all your modern (or even not-so modern) Virii use TCP/IP to transmit themselves to oter machines, and they couldn't do that very well if they stopped the protocol working.
