im running a wireless network through win XP.
after install...i could send packets of info but could never receive. i manually configured the ip...gateway...and dns server through another computer on the network. This sort of fixed my problem. I can now receive packets...however not through internet explorer or any of my normal applications (dns error)...i can ping ip addresses and recieve a response.
my winxp will autoconfigure to an ip of 169.***.***.**
and gateway to 255.255.0.0
why wont my winxp autoconfigure to a correct ip/gateway/dns and why am i getting a DNS error when i try to access the internet...through my manual settings (all match execpt ip address
