Here's my problem.

I'm running a Windows 2000 Network, with a local Network ID of 192.168.1.0. I have am using a Windows 2000 Server as a NATed router (Address is 192.168.1.1). Recently, our company was given another T1 provided by a company we wholesale for, which communicates only with their networks. The network ID for this T1 is 10.32.237.32. So, I need to provide all clients with access to both networks.

Currently, I have assigned each client with 2 static addresses, one for each network. I would like to implemenet DHCP.

Does anyone have any advice on the easiest way to do this?

Thanks in Advance.

The problem is that any multi-homed client still is permitted only one gateway device, no matter how many host addresses it has.

Even if you added a second adapter to each client, the single gateway rule will still adhere.

So adding static ips to the client is the least costly alternative.

But a router with DHCP is possible, in the main because of the way in which DHCP services are requested and advertised. The physical cable segment of a second nic adapter in each client connected to the router through a switch would hit with 1 hop the DHCP server on the router before the DHCP server on your other network segment. You could even prioritize this in your static route entries. But you are looking at at least $US 20/per seat plus cable costs to use this alternative of a second NIC adapter in each client and a router.
